Martial Law Declared in Sonora (April 8, 1877)
"The Army of the Southwest under General Brown was dispatched last week to deal with the crisis of Mexican raiding parties against Imperial citizens," said Minister of War, Petersen at a meeting of the House of Peers and the House of Representatives. "The volatile nature of the army's mission and the danger posed to the local population has prompted General Brown to declare martial law in the area of and surrounding the Protectorate of Sonora."
Accident at the Imperial Oakland Aerodrome Closes Aeroship Traffic for 1 Day (April 10, 1877)
An aeroship and an experimental heavier-than-air craft collided at the Imperial Oakland Aerodrome yesterday prompting critics of the Aerodrome's safety policies to call for revisions to the traffic control methods of the Aerodrome. The pilot of the experimental craft died en route to hospital. Neither his identity, nor his reasons for being at the aerodrome are known.
California Formally Annexes Territory (April 15, 1877)
Negotiations with the Republic of North Mexico regarding the continued incursion of Mexican nationals into California territory broke down last week ending three months of discussions with California's southern neighbor. By Imperial edict The Army of the Southwest under the command of General Brown has formally annexed the territory south of the Gila River to the 31 parallel, including the city of Puerto PeƱasco. No word has yet been received regarding the Republic of North Mexico's response to this.
Woman Found Murdered in Golden Gate Park (April 20, 1877)
An unidentified woman was found murdered in Golden Gate Park yesterday morning. Police are not releasing details of the crime until her identity can be established and her family contacted.
Double Murder in Golden Gate Park - Police Baffled (April 25, 1877)
Two women were discovered murdered yesterday evening in Golden Gate Park. Both victims were discovered at different ends of the park by constables only minutes after death. Though few details have been released police have indicated that the methods of murder were identical to that of a victim discovered earlier this week. The police have few leads and have accepted the assistance of a visiting Alienist, Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, from New York.

Continued Fighting in the Southwest - General Brown draws back to Tuscon (May 3, 1877)
"Intense fighting and serious setbacks have forced General Brown to draw back and regroup his forces in Tuscon," said Minister of War, Petersen, in a meeting of the House of Peers and the House of Representatives yesterday. "Mexican nationals have not recognized the validity of the Californian claim and continue to engage our forces."
Third Body Found in Golden Gate Park - Magick Involved? (May 7, 1877)
Another woman's body has been found in the early morning hours in Golden Gate Park. Police have requested the assistance of the Eleusinian Order. Sources suggest that the police believe magick may be involved and that the same man is hte perpetrator of all four crimes reported in the park. When asked Commissioner of Police Warren declined to comment.
Brown Moves into Sonora - Republic of Mexico Armies Routed (May 12, 1877)
After more than a week of intense fighting in the southwest, which forced General Brown to retreat back to Tuscon, Mexican forces have been routed. Troops led by Lieutenant-General Richard Sperry arrived late Thursday afternoon and cut-off crucial supply lines to the Mexican army. The army has continued south to the 31st parallel to re-establish its new-won border with the Republic of North Mexico.
Magick Panic Spreads in San Francisco (May 14, 1877)
After a fifth woman's body was found in Golden Gate Park yesterday a public outcry against the crimes went out. Citizens of the city, beginning to panic with rumours and innuendoes of magick have begun to take the law into their own hands accosting people who are suspected of being mages or affiliated with magickal orders. Police are requesting that all citizens please remain calm and let them perform their duties. Commissioner of Police Warren promises that this matter will be resolved soon.
Magick Panic Responsible for Fire That Gutted Three Buildings (May 15, 1877)
A fire broke out yesterday in what is believed to be the Chapterhouse for the Order of the Rosy Cross, commonly known in California as the Rosicrucians. This attack of wanton arson comes on the heels of several reported attacks against persons believed to be mages or affiliated with practitioners of the Art. One gentleman claiming to be from the Order who spoke on the condition of anonymity, says that the Order may move its offices because of the rise in anti-magick hostility.
