Gaia, Wounded
Overview
Despite warnings about impending disaster, world-wide climates did not catastrophically shift due to industrial activities up until 2034. There were severe shifts in climates, floods, and other disasters, but science continued to lend doubt on environmental hysteria.
The African bombardment of 2034, however, started a chain of horrific changes in world climate. Tornadoes, hurricanes, droughts and floods began with increasing severity, and some regions were obscured by dust clouds. By 2037, seasonal shifts had become severe, with long winters in many parts of Europe, northern and eastern regions of North America, and constant rain and flooding in other areas.
Thick cloud cover and fierce weather encouraged the arcology movement and led to a widespread belief in fighting against nature, and withdrawing from the world.
The Battle of October, in 2043, spurred the process on. Clouds of dust from the bombarded Lunar surface circled the earth, with effects that would last decades.
