Field Marshal Noventa

The supreme commander of the Alliance military, Noventa is old
enough to remember the noble ideals that once motivated the
Alliance, and as relations with the space colonies have become
increasingly strained he finds himself leaning ever more towards a
peaceful solution. But no sooner has Noventa decided on a policy of
peaceful negotiation and gradual disarmament, than Treize
maneuvers him into the path of the Gundam
pilots, turning a budding pacifist into a martyr to feed the
fires of war. (taken from The Gundam
Project)
Noventa left behind a wife
as well as a grand-daughter named Sylvia
after his death.

General Septem

The commander of the Alliance's "cosmoarma," or space force,
Septem is younger and more aggressive than his fellow Alliance
leaders. While Noventa
and Ventei
speak of peace, Septem lobbies for another crackdown on the rowdy
space colonies. His attitude hints at the kind of oppression the
space colonists have suffered at the hands of his space forces.

Project)
Assassinated by Lady
Une during Operation Daybreak, Septem left behind a father, as
well as a son named Gwinter

General Ventei

Ventei is the commander of the Alliance's terrestrial forces,
comprising the "arma" (army), "marina" (navy), and "aeronautica"
(air force). Like Noventa,
he is a member of the Alliance's idealistic older generation, and he
similarly endorses a course of peaceful coexistence with the space
colonies. And like Noventa, Ventei becomes a martyr through Treize's
manipulations. (taken from The Gundam
Project)

Minister Darlian

Relena's foster father is an Alliance vice minister for foreign
affairs, responsible for the ongoing negotiations with the space
colonies. As such, he is a steadfast advocate for peaceful
coexistence with the colonies. Though his work frequently takes him
away from his family, he is a devoted and affectionate parent to Relena
and his revelation that he is not her true father comes as a great
shock to his adopted daughter.
As we eventually discover, before joining the Alliance
government, Darlian was an official of the Sanc Kingdom and a
trusted aide to King
Peacecraft. When the kingdom was occupied by Alliance troops
thirteen years ago, he smuggled the infant Relena to safety and
raised her as his own child. (taken from The Gundam
Project)
Assassinated by Lady
Une, Darlian left behind a wife
as well as his foster daughter Relena.

Sally Po
 Rank:
Major Age: 19 (20
in Endless Waltz)
This idealistic Alliance officer captures Heero
after his first run-in with a fellow Gundam pilot, and insists on
treating her young captive humanely. After OZ stages its coup, she
becomes a guerilla resistance fighter, and crosses paths with our
heroes several times in the running war against OZ. Ultimately she
hooks up with Noin
and the two women become a volunteer support team of sorts for the
wayward Gundam
pilots (taken from The Gundam
Project)
Sally survives the Eve Wars and, in Endless Waltz, joins
the new government's Preventer intelligence agency.
And here are some less prominent figures in the Alliance
military, arranged in order of rank.
|
|
Gwinter and his grandfather
The son of General
Septem and, like his father, an Alliance space force commander,
he somehow manages to escape the depredations of Operation Daybreak
and hold out for a while at an Alliance-controlled colony with his
grandfather and some Alliance officers. Zechs
pays them a visit during the period of OZ's peace overtures to the
colonies.

|
General Deigo O'Neil

The man responsible for the conquest of the Sanc
Kingdom and the massacre of its royal family. He didn't do a
very thorough job, however, as the heir
apparent of the Sanc royal throne escaped and turns up at his
residence 13 years later...
|
| Commander
Bonaparte

The commander of Corsica Base, he appears briefly in Episode 3 as
a veteran officer highly resentful of OZ's all-too-prominent role in
Alliance military affairs. His surname is almost certainly derived
from that of history's most famous "Corsican" general - Napoleon
Bonaparte.
|
| Colonel
Bunto

Around the time of Operation Daybreak, Colonel Bunto assassinates
the pacifist leader of a small country in what used to be China and
turns it into his personal base. There are many who oppose his rule,
however, the most recalcitrant of whom are a band of rebels led by
the former Alliance officer Sally
Po. Desperate to put down the rebellion and consolidate his hold
over the country, Bunto approaches OZ and makes a deal with them -
he would allow them to take over the country and destroy all
dissident elements, and they would allow him to remain as head of
state. His nefarious plans come to naught, however, when Gundam
pilot Chang
Wufei enters the fray...
|
| Major
Nanaki

Bunto's
subordinate. Firmly opposed to OZ interference in his country's
affairs, Nanaki quickly finds himself sacrificed in the name of
Bunto's ambition.
